Sweet and sour mix

'The sweet is never as sweet without the sour.'
My mixed media page for the theme 'Fruits and Veggies' chosen by Rike at Art Journal Journey Challenge this month.
I made the page using my watercolor face painting (below), that I set digitally on the background I made now for the challenge theme.
Lemon is the fruit that fits well on the quote I chose. Heart aches between lovers, and to make them up , that I'm interpreting.
The 'lemon hart' is a cookie cut I made digitally. Other images were altered from Mischief Circus kits, my layout was made with the Photoshop Elements-program.

I'm linking the page also at Paint Party Friday Week 37, Year 9.
Thank you for stopping by and the comment you kindly leave.

'Makea ei ole koskaan yhtä makeaa ilman happamuutta.'
Kuva kertonee, mihin yhteyteen tein sivuni: sydänsurut ja sovinto rakastavaisten välillä voitaneen kuvailla mietelmän tavoin.
Art journal-sivuni tein haasteteemmaan 'Hedelmät ja vihannekset'. Käytin työssäni aiemmin maalaamaani vesiväri-kasvokuvaa, jonka asemoin digitaaliesti nyt tekemälleni taustalle. Siinä 'sitruunainen' sydän on oma-tekoinen, muu kuva-aineisto muunneltua Mischief Circus-materiaalia ja layout'in koostin kuvankäsittelyohjelmassani.
Kiva, kun poikkesit blogissa, ja kommentit ovat aina tervetulleita.

  2. Oh wow, Sirkkis, what a picture.
First of all your portrait of the woman is tremendous, the colours and her personality jump from the screen in a dramatic way.
The eyes! The lips! The lemon hair!
Her lover looks fairly cool, as if he is waiting. I think he comes from another time, maybe a fantasy lover? Maybe a hero in a book she has read?
The cookie-cutter lemon - oh that is clever, and I like the text and the font.
    This is a tour-de-force. I love it.

  3. Your watercolor face painting is gorgeous! What you made digitally is absolutely stunning! The lemmons and heart aches between lovers fit perfect to the quote, and your sweet lemmon heart with the light inside is an eyecatcher too!
Thank you for linking such a fantastic piece to my theme at AJJ!

  4. Absolutely STUNNING, Sirkkis. Not only do you do digital beautifully, you also paint beautifully, too. You are very, very talented, and I simply adore your stunning entry that fits Rike's theme so well. I like the back story and how you justified the sweet and sour lemons. Simply gorgeous art.

  12. Hi Sirkkis! :) Your piece is very vibrant, I love the colours and those are some very wise words as well! I don't think we can really appreciate and be grateful for what's sweet in life if we have never experienced sour. Bravo! :)
