'Looking over an unknown future and hoping being brave, wise, sensitive...'
My digitally compounded art journal collage illustration from the time in 1920s when the mass migration to the United States took place. There in my art work a young couple is starting a long ship trip to the future... taking with many memories, letters, etc, from the previous life.

The vintage image material was chosen from my archives and the collage designed in my photoshop program.
With this art journal page I say 'good bye' to the theme 'People' of Art Journal Journey in June, and thank Matilde for hosting her theme 🌺
I've especially enjoyed working with this kind of old images, which are used seldom nowadays, when the AI is regrettably taking place even on the art field.
Thanks for visiting; I'm wishing you inspiring July ahead 🎭

'Katselen tuntemattomaan tulevaisuuteen toivoen olevani rohkea, viisas, herkkä...'
Tämän digitaalisen art journal kollaasin tein 'Ihmiset' teemaan fotosopissani.
I was wrong. THIS latest entry is definitely my favorite this month. I adore the vintage feel and look of this entry. Like you, I am NOT fond of AI. Tried it once and it felt phony to me. This, however, feels like I am looking at one of my ancestors who braved the ocean to start a new life in my country. I love how you framed the focal image with various items, like writing and other images. This amazing entry is fantastic and I love it a LOT. Thanks for sharing it with us usiong Matilde's theme at AJJ. You rocked this entry, Sirkkis.
VastaaPoistaThank you Elizabeth for your kindness and the comment💖
PoistaMy father's brother born in the late 1800's era migrated in USA as well.
Have a happy July ahead 😘🌸
VastaaPoistaThis is so real. I love it, eeverything about it. The way you have decorated the frame is fabulous - it's like the ephemera that they took with them to start their new life. It. has even got me wondering if they settled ok and thongs worked out for them..Hope so.
You certainly went out with a bang with this one - fabulous!
Hugs, Neet xx
I'm happy you get my illustatin so well, thank you Neet a lot 😘
PoistaHappy start to Julay ahead my friend 🌞🌿
Such a well done collage! Their clothes show that they were a well-off family. My Swiss grandparents and their two small children emigrated to Canada in the 1920s too. I've seen their immigration papers from when they landed by ship. My grandfather had $5,000 with him, an inordinate amount of money in those days. He used it to buy ranch land first in Alberta and then farm land in Saskatchewan. Ten years later during the Great Depression, he was dead of alcoholism and my grandmother was a widow with six children.
VastaaPoistaOh, Debra, thank you for sharing your grandparent's story, and it's interesting that your roots are in Switzerland. The money doesn't always give happiness, but good that they gave a good start.
PoistaThank you for the comment 🥰
