The background for this digitally designed art journal page was made with big number of embellishments chosen from my archive, and I used the freebie woman image that I've saved years ago.

Her state and expression made me use the quote of Diane von Furstenberg, that I designed and typed on the background in my photoshop program.

"Asenne on kaikki"- art journal työn suunnittelin ja toteutin digitaalisesti fotosopissani teemaan 'Tee oma tausta'.

Taustassani on runsaasti koristemateriaalia, joka löytyi arkistostani, ja pääkuvaksi valitsin naisen, jolla näyttää olevan asennetta. Se on kehystämäni ilmaiskuva vuosien takaa. Tekstin kirjoitin tekemääni kehykseen digitaalisesti.

Harlequin/Harlekiini

 

Harlequin is the theatrical character of the Italian comedian dell'arte; a facile and wily gentleman's valet, a capricious serving maid. He wears checkered patterned clothes. There in plays since the 1500 era is also the duck character with white balls around, and you see one in my work. In addition I added on the background a woman image and my story with the text 'Farewell my baby', which both doesn't relate the play any way. But because I've made the word letters digitally earlier, and now the  color of them fits well on my design, and my story's nasty words could be said by the capricious harlequin, I widened the original Harlequin story with my own, and it's now also the art journal work.

 I created the background using different layering elements including the same kind of colour shades as the Harlequin's clothes. That was quite laborious to do: all was made, layered and filtered in my photoshop program with the image material that I chose and altered from my image archive.

 I made this digital work for the Digital Whisper's 'Harlequin'-theme,   

and because it's including my own BG and my story, it's the art journal, and I'm linking it also at Art Journal Journey Mia's theme: 'Make your own Background'.

Harlekiini on tyyppi-hahmo italialaisessa komediassa 1500-luvulta. Hän on erään herrasmiehen ovela ja juonikas miespalvelija värikkäissä ruutukuvioisissa vaatteissa. Näytelmässä on myös hahmo, joka on ankka.Tein siitä oman kuvallisen karaktäärin ja lisäsin toisenkin oman naishahmon, joka ei millään tavalla liity alkuperäiseen komediaan. Hänelle Harlekiini sanoo ilkeästi: 'Hyvästi kulta', koska mielestäni huikentelevainen Harlekiini olisi voinut niin sanoa naiselle. Lisäksi minulla oli valmiiksi tehtynä kirjaimet, jotka väriltään sopivat taustaväreihin. Taustan tein kokonaan itse monin kerrostumin, filtterein, efektein ja värityksin.

My digitally created background is telling the content of the book that the woman in the picture is reading, i.e. in the other world.

I designed and made my art journal page in my photoshop program with its tools. All image material was chosen from my image archive.

Taustan tarkoituksena on kertoa naisen lukeman kirjan sisällöstä ikään kuin kaikki tapahtuisi eri maailmassa - eli kirjassa. 

Kuvamateriaalin valitsin kuva-arkistostani ja toteutuksen tein fotosopissa sen työkaluilla.

My digital interpretation for the theme 'Make your own background' 

hosted by Mia this month at Art Journal Journey Challenge.

For me the theme is constant, because I always make my own background for my art. For the digital art my background can be an alteration from some background paper, or it can be my handmade background, or it can be a mixed of hybrid.

Above you see my digitally created background, which includes some altered images, digital effects and filters, and different color alterations. 

All was made in my photoshop program by me.

The images are from my image archive: the altered main 'woman'-image is chosen from my files, and the quote is typed on the background.  

Nowadays I also make often hybrids, and then use my hand made and digital material together for the backgrounds.

Digitaalisesti tekemäni art journal-työ teemaan 'Tee oma tausta'. 

Minulle teema on vakio, koska teen aina oman taustan, en käytä valmiita taustoja; digitaalisiin se voi olla taustapaperi, jonka olen muunnellut eri tavoin fotosopissa, tai käsin tekemäni tausta tai sen muunnos hybridi.

Yllä olevassa työssä on digitaalinen tausta, jonka olen tehnyt fotosopissa filttereillä, tehosteilla ja väri- ja kuvamuunnoksilla.

August and the harvest/Elokuu ja sadonkorjuu

After the sunny summer the harvest of fruits and berries is rich.

August is time of harvest and it's like a prize to us for the work of planting and gardening. The quote that I wrote refers of course to our behavior, too.

This august is ending, and my digital art journal page is the last piece for the theme 'Hot Summer (night and day) hosted by Chris 

at Art Journal Journey.

Aurinkoisen kesän jälkeen hedelmä- ja marjasato on runsas.

Elokuu on sadonkorjuun aikaa ja ikään kuin palkinto tehdystä istutus- ja kylvötyöstä ja puutarhan hoidosta. Valitsemani miete "Korjaat aina sadon, jonka kylvät" viittaa tietysti myös omaan toimintaamme.

Tämä digitaalisesti tekemäni art journal sivu jää viimeisekseni tähän teemaan. Uudet haasteet odottavat ensi kuussa.

August is like the Sunday Of Summer/Elokuu on kuin kesän sunnuntai

 

This digital art journal page was created for the Chris's theme 'Hot Summer, day and night' at Art Journal Journey in August.

I designed and layered it in my photoshop program with the hot colored image material which was chosen from my image archive, and finished it with the quote 'August is like the Sunday of summer.'-Unknown.

August is ending summer time, Sunday is ending week days; this  is the message of the quote.

Tämän digitaalisesti tekemäni art journal työn tein elokuun teemaan 'Kuuma Kesä' päivällä, yöllä. Suunnittelin ja koostin sen fotosopissani kirkasvärisestä materiaalista, jonka valitsin kuva-arkistostani. Viimeistelin työn mietelauseella, jossa verrataan elokuuta kesän sunnuntaihin.

Elokuussa kesä on loppumassa, sunnuntai päättää viikon; tähän mietelause  viittaa.

My message is: 'follow the sun', so there is of course the sun! In addition you see there a big number of layers and bright colors, which refer to the things, which are typical to summer. 

We have had here a long hot summer, but it's just turning slowly to autumn...

After a well spent day/Hyvin vietetyn päivän jälkeen

For the Chris's challenge theme 'Hot Summer/Night' at Art Journal Journey.

Fairies are often described in folklore and literature creatures which come out at night. So I created digitally the art journal page where the fairy is in the summery forest at night whispering the words of Leonardo da Vinci:

 'A well spent day brings happy sleep.' 

My design and layering were made in my photoshop program with image material chosen from my archive and effected with its tools.

Hot Summer/Kuuma kesä

 

My hybrid art journal page for the Chris's 'Hot Summer' theme at Art Journal Journey Challenge in August.

I used in its design my earlier hand with acrylics and oil pastels painted art  work, which you see below:

 Now I added digitally more elements, filtered and effected in the new version, and typed the text onto the new background paper.

I can identify with the words 'hot, hot' hot!!", because new records have been made concerning the temperatures and their lengths in our county this summer.

on uusi art journal hybrid- työni 'Kuuma kesä'-teemaan. Käytin siinä aiemmin käsin akryylein/öljypastellein maalaamaani työtä, johon lisäsin nyt digitaalisesti elementtejä, filttereitä ja tehosteita sekä kirjoitin sanat, joihin voimme samaistua täällä Suomessa lämpöennätysten keston merkeissä.

Sweet summertime/Suloinen kesäaika

Migration/Muuttoliike

'Looking over an unknown future and hoping being brave, wise, sensitive...'
My digitally compounded art journal collage illustration from the time in 1920s when the mass migration to the United States took place. There in my art work a young couple is starting a long ship trip to the future... taking with many memories, letters, etc, from the previous life.

The vintage image material was chosen from my archives and the collage designed in my photoshop program.

With this art journal page I say 'good bye' to the theme 'People' of Art Journal Journey in June, and thank Matilde for hosting her theme 🌺

 I've especially enjoyed working with this kind of old images, which are used seldom nowadays, when the AI is regrettably taking place even on the art field.

'Katselen tuntemattomaan tulevaisuuteen toivoen olevani rohkea, viisas, herkkä...'

Tämän digitaalisen art journal kollaasin tein 'Ihmiset' teemaan fotosopissani. Siinä kuvaan, miten nuori pariskunta lähteen pitkälle merimatkalle etsimään parempaa tulevaisuutta Yhdysvalloista 1920-luvulla, kun muuttoliike sinne oli vilkkaimmillaan. Kuvamateriaali löytyi arkistoistani. Tekoäly-kuvien vallatessa taidealaakin, oli ilo päästä käyttämään perinteisiä vanhoja vintage kuvia. En ole siirtymässä tekoälyn käyttäjäksi, vaan 'askartelen' mieluummin jatkossakin ilman sitä ja käytän näitä mielestäni puhuttelevampia kuvia.

Tämä onkin viimeinen työni kesäkuun 'Ihminen'-haasteeseen, 

ja toivotan kaikille meille antoisaa, inspiroivaa alkavaa heinäkuuta 🎭
