Midsummer bonfire

For the theme 'Fire' at Dreamers Challenge September 19th.
Midsummer is a main national holiday in Finland. Originally a celebration of the summer solstice. It is typically spent with friends and family at a summer cottage from the city, either partying or relaxing.
Lighting bonfires and bathing in sauna are two of the most typical traditions in Midsummer celebrations in our country.
I made the background of my creation using digital painting brushes and filtering. I added the bonfire photo and the map, from which you roughly see the main free time amusements over Finland. Lapland in wintertime is the most popular area of the tourism, as well as "Lakeland" in summertime.
Thank you for visiting.

'Juhannuskokko' -digityön tein haasteteemaan 'Tuli'.
Taustan tein maalaamalla digisiveltimillä ja filtteroimalla kuvankäsittelyn keinoin. Lisäsin valokuvan kokosta ja kartan, josta pääpiirteittäin ilmenevät suosituimmat kohteet vapaa-ajan viettoon ja turismille.
Lisäksi kerroin juhannuksen vietosta ja siihen liittyvistä traditioista maassamme.
Hyvää sunnuntaita ja alkavaa viikkoa kaikile.

  4. Loved reading about your traditions. My grandma had a sauna house. It was a small building. Inside were piles of rocks over a stove. I remember my brothers gathering wood and lighting the fire, and putting water on the hot stones. We grew up in a Finnish settled area-I told you before-so I think the sauna was built by the previous owner. My very best friend in school happened to be Finnish. Her parents were born in Finland, and I think they missed their homeland a lot. I heard the language a bit when I visited them. Beautiful!
