" Full of joy is early Summer,
Growth and warmth and golden light;
Every day is crowned by beauty,
Full of loveliness the night.
Dazzling sunshine brings the roses,
Fills the whole bright world with bloom;
Day and night rejoice together,
Banished now are doubt and gloom.
The above words are from the lovely poem "Early Summer" by Ellwood Roberts (1846-1921). The poem celebrates the joy and beauty of the early summer season. I typed the first verse, and there are two of them more; and I could make them another illustration next time.
I used a part of my acrylic portrait beneath:
I've painted her on a crumbled paper bag.
I found the old nature photo from my files, and think it's perfect for the poem.
I created this hybrid page for the theme 'Poetry' hosted by Erika and Valerie at Art Journal Journey this month.
Because there is also my face painting, I'm linking it at Nicole's DV Artist Friday Face off this week.
Thank you for looking; and happy weekend everyone

'Runous'-teemaan löysin vanhan maisemakuvan arkistostani ja katsoin sen sopivan hyvin runoon, jonka olin valinnut tähän teemaan. Kasvomaalaus on osa vanhasta työstäni rypistetylle paperipussille.
Runon on kirjoittanut Ellwood Roberts (1846-1921),ja on kaunis ylistys alkavalle kesälle:
"Täynnä iloa on alkanut kesä,
Kasvu ja lämpö, ja kultainen valo:
Jokainen päivä on kruunattu kauneudella.
Ihanuutta täynnä yöt.
Kimaltava auringonpaiste tuo ruusut,
Saavat koko valoisan maailman kukkimaan;
Iloitkaamme siis alkavasta kesästä mekin ja toivotaan, että se on kuin runoa;
hyvää viikonloppua kaikille 🍀
Fantastic Sirkis connection with everything!

VastaaPoistaThanks for the comment. Early summer is different compered with middle or late summer here... Like both 👍
PoistaI love that you painted the face on crumpled paper. It really looks great on the photo. And a poem about summer...oh yes..I will be ready when that season arrives. :) I hope you're having some lovely May weather. Ours seems to be sun and then clouds but the early flowers have been extremely pretty. Happy weekend. hugs-Erika
