Mouse faily/Hiiriperhe

 For the 'Mouse' theme at Digital Whisper this week.

I designed and layered my digital collage page in Photoshop using the material that I chose from my image archive. 

The whole mouse family is enjoying the delicious meal in the kitchen table. However there is danger, because the cat has noticed what's going on...

Elder Tree magick/Selja-puun taikaa

Trees are widely considered magical, spiritual or sentiment beings in many traditional folklore. Many cultures treat trees as living spirits or guardians, e.g. 'Elder Tree Mother' or 'Old Girl' is the spirit like a wood-nymph that lives in the elder tree, and is requiring permission to cut it to avoid misfortune.

I created my hybrid art journal page using as 'Elder Tree Mother' my hand painted face beneath:

'Black jacket girl'

I made som digital alterations in the portrait adding filtering and cutting out it's background and jacket.

The hybrid page's background was made in Photoshop with several layers and digital effects. The Elder Tree is a separate png- image, that I gave several effects and made alterations. 

I finished the work with typing the texts and adding some images like the wreath, bird, and overlays.

Monissa kansanperinteissä puihin yhdistyy magiikkaa, henkisyyttä ja tunnetta; useissa kulttuureissa pidetään puita elävinä olentoina sekä vartijoina.

 Esimerkiksi Selja-puuta kunnioitetaan ja kysytään siltä lupa katkoa tai kaataa, että vältytään epäonnelta elämässä. Puita kutsutaan nimillä kuin eläviä olentoja kuten 'Selja-puu Äiti' tai 'Selja-Tyttö'. Mustaseljasta tuli Skandinavian pyhäpuu.

Hybridi-työssäni käytin puu-nymfinä eli luonnonhengettärenä käsin maalaamaani kasvokuvaa irrotettuani se ensin taustastaan ja tehostamalla filtterillä. Laitoin sille lisäksi seppeleen päähän. 

Taustan tein digitaalisesti usealla kerrostumalla ja tehosteita lisäämällä. Selja-puu on erillinen pmg-kuva ja tehostin sitä samoin digitaalisesti sekä lisäsin linnun sekä kirjoitin tekstin 'Selja-puu Äiti' sekä ylös:

  'Selja-Tyttö anna minulle puutasi, niin annan omaani, kun kasvan puuksi.'

The Shipwreck/Haaksirikko

 

For the theme 'Shipwreck' at Digital Whisper this week.

In my digitally lowered artwork seems to happen that the mermaidens are rescuing things... there are many people in the sea - I hope they be saved, too.

I found the old image material from my archive and made new layering in Photoshop.

My digitally in Photoshop layered postcard for the theme 'Shakespeare' 

at Sunday Postcard Art.

My card is based on the movie characters of the American film of 1999 from Shakespeare's play of the 1592, which is a witty mixture of romance, fairy magic, and comic lowlife scenes. 

I added of course the picture of the national poet of England in my card, and typed on it one of his famous words.

Photosopissa tekemäni postikortti teemaan 'Shakespeare'. Kuvitukseni perustuu ihmisiin, jotka 1999 näyttelevät Shakespearen vuonna 1592 kirjoittaman näytelmä hulttiomaisia hahmoja; näytelmä on sekoitus romansseja, magiikkaa ja komiikkaa. Lisäsin kuvitukseen tietysti myös Englannin kansallisrunoilijan Shakespearen kuvan sekä k.o. näytelmän nimen 'Kesäyön unelma' ja hänen mietelauseensa.

Trees, birds and you/Puut, linnut ja sinä

 

'A bird sitting on a tree is never afraid of the branch breaking, because her trust is not on the branch but on it's wings.' Always believe in yourself.

My hybrid art journal work created with my earlier hand painted 'Woman and bird' colored pencil work beneath. Now I set it on the new digital background the

material of which was chosen from my archive, layering and overlays made digitally in Photoshop.

To Plant a Tree/Istuttaa puu

I designed it in Photoshop with the freebie background, the tree picture and my hand painted woman portrait that you see beneath. I added it with the layer mask technique onto the background, typed the quote, and added the frame.

Shady Park/Varjoisa puisto

My digital interpretation for the theme 'Trees'. 

I altered in Photoshop a photo of a park making the shade effects to the trees ; added from my archive the walking bird images, that I gave shadows, too; and added the flying flock of birds, and typed the thoughtful quote of Henderson.
