Kauris kevätväreissä/Maalaus 3/Deer painting

Leskenlehdet jo kukkivat. Ovat aikaisimpia kevätkukkijoitamme; 

jo huhtikuussa joillain alueilla.

Maalasin muistikirjani sivulle, skannasin ja kehystin. Tämä saattaa olla sama veijari, joka pelästytti minut pahanpäiväisesti pari vuotta sitten sauvakävelylläni. Hyppäsi yllättäen nenäni editse polun yli pusikosta metrin päästä. Taisimme pelästyä kumpikin 😊 

Menee Teemakuun Kollaasit huhtikuun keväinen 'Maalaus'-teemaan. Nyt on sitten lunta luvattu etelä Suomeenkin 😏

My 'Deer' painting for the theme 'Spring Painting'.

I painted the deer in spring colors with colored pencils on my note book page, scanned and framed. The fellow could be the same that frightened me once during my Nordic walk, when jumped over the path just under my nose. May be we both were scared 😊 

Coltsfoot is blooming here in Finland even in April, but now it's forecasted snow for the weekend 😏

Kyllä nuo maalaamani gerberat ova jättiläiskokoisia tyttöön rinnastettuna 😏 enkä muistaakseni ole kehdannut julkaista tätä maalaustani aiemmin.

Mutta teemaan 'Liian iso' tämä sopineekin mainiosti 😄

Tein vielä digitaalisesti hybridi-muunnelman tytöstä ja jätti gerbera-kukista, josta näet osan oikealla tytön käden lähellä. Nyt ne ovat päässeetkin unikkopellolle.

'Too big' is the May theme at Teemakuun Kollaasit.

As far as I can remember, I haven't published this acryl painting, because of the too big Gerberas that I painted, but now they match the theme 'Too big' very well 😊

In addition I made a hybrid version from the painting. You see a piece of the original Gerberas on the right hand corner of the collage.

'A penny from your thoughts'

I bought a gouache color set last week and practiced with them first time now. I felt that blending colors with them is quite challenging to me. Especially with exact shades of them. Otherwise I like to paint with them. 

You see now my first painting exercise, which I painted with gouache. A painter who used to paint with gouache his women portraits in the early 1920s is one of my favorites, and I followed one layout of his paintings on my painting.

'Nainen 1920-luvulta'

Ostin viime viikolla guassi-värilajitelman ja harjoittelin niillä maalaamista ensimmäisen kerran. Koen värien sekoittamisen aika haastavaksi. Etenkin tarkkojen sävyjen löytämisessä on vaikeuksia. Harjoittelu kai auttaa asiassa, ja muuten pidän niillä maalaamisesta. Yllä näet ensimmäisen guassi-naismuotokuvani. Minulla on eräs suosikkimaalari 1920-luvulta, joka maalasi niillä naisten muotokuvia. Otin eräästä niistä mallia asettelulle 'Penni ajatuksistasi'-työlleni.

My acrylic/gesso painting on a crumbled paper back.

First I drew her with charcoal.

'Art is the elimination of the unnecessary'

I digitally made her the new background with a texture effect, and added the embellishments on her head and neck, and  edited the above text, .

Here I followed the words and eliminated digitally a part of the background.

Tämän naisen olen maalannut akryyleillä ja gessolla rypistetylle paperipussille. Ensin piirsin hänet hiilellä. Alempana olen tehnyt hänelle digitaalisesti taustan ja lisännyt päähän ja kaulaan koristeet sekä editoinut tekstin: 'Taide on tarpeettoman eliminoimista.'

Ja viimeisessä työssä olen noudattanut edellä olevaa tekstiä ja poistanut tarpeettoman taustasta. Linkitän postaukseni 'Kasvot'-teemaan.

Portrait and alteration

I used my with acrylics painted portrait (below), when made this

digital collage. I  designed and layered it adding digitally a rose image and background pieces. I finished the collage with some digital effects and coloring. You see that I altered her dress color to green.

Ylinnä olevan digikollaasin tein käyttäen aiemmin akryyleillä maalaamaani muotokuvaa. Kollaasini taustan koostin leikkaamalla valitsemastani kuvasta digitekniikalla osan. Kuten näet lisäsin ruusun ja tytön puvun värin muutin vihreäksi.

Deer portrait

I'm so devoted to deer that I painted the third deer painting and wonder whether it was the reason that a deer jumped just in front of me when I was walking in the woods 😳 I know that there are them, but I frightened as it jumped over the path only one and a half meter from me. It looked just same as my painted deer. I used colored pencils on the A5 note book page. I'm linking the post at Nicole's/DVArtist FFO.

 Pidän kauriista niin paljon, että tämä on jo kolmas värikynämaalaukseni tästä kauniista eläimestä. Johtuneekohan tästä, että kun olin kävelemässä metsässä, kauris hyppäsi polun poikki niin läheltä minua, että pelästyin. Tiedän kyllä, että kauriita on ympäristössä, mutta en koskaan aiemmin kohdannut näin läheltä. Se näytti aivan  samalta kuin tämä maalaamani. Tein art journal-sivun maalauksesta liittämällä kuvaan tekstiliuskan, johon kirjoitin Emmanuel Kantin mietelauseen: "Voimme arvottaa ihmisen sydäntä siitä, miten hän kohtelee eläimiä."

Bird Girl in Nature

'I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.'

The girl is my hand with acrylics and oil pastels painted portrait. I got an idea that she looks like a bird, and painted the white things to emphasize that.

Now I added her digitally onto among the other birds on my hand composed background, and so she is in the right place 😉

I altered her again, and sank her digitally into the background, which is a photo of  the Purple Mountain Saxifraga. It is a species of plants that is very common in the high Arctic and high mountainous area. It grows also in our Lapland in the North of Finland.

'Lintutyttö luonnossa'

-art journal sivuni menee teemaan 'Turkis ja/tai höyhenpeite'. Siinä on käsin tekemäni tausta, johon olen lisännyt akryylein ja oil pastel-liiduin maalaamani kasvokuvan. Jotenkin se alkoi minusta näyttää linnulta ja lisäsin siihen valkoiset jutut korostaakseni tätä mielikuvaa - ja onhan hän nyt kaltaistensa joukossa😉

Toinen työni menee 'Kasvokuva'-teemaan. Upotin saman tytön taustalle, joka on valokuva Sinirikko-nimisestä kukasta, jota kasvaa Arktisilla alueilla ja vuoristoissa ja sitä esiintyy myös meidän Lapissamme.

Roe Deer, and Where the wild thing are

'A young Roe Deer in woods' is my colored pencil painting in A5 size. I painted it on a notebook page with dry pencils.

I made a mixed media page, too, which is composed with my hand painted portrait and a part of it's background. I painted them with colored pencils. You see below the sketch work. I wasn't satisfy with it. So I planned a new design, and altered the first one adding more colors and elements that you see on the mixed-media work. I added them digitally. This kind of art is called also hybrids.

Näet siitä sketsin alinna. En ollut tyytyväinen siihen, joten tein uuden suunnitelman ja lisäsin taustalle muita värejä ja elementtejä digitaalisesti. Tällaisia töitä kutsutaan myös hybrideiksi. Jotenkin näen tytössä myös kauriin.

In the shades of the forest

 

My hand painted portrait and the bird on 7,5x5,5 inch notebook page using dry colored pencils and dry paper. I tried to reach the early morning impression in  shades of the peaceful forest.

My hand made art journal page for the Chris's theme 'When we were young' at Art Journal Journey this month. 

Elsi, 'Thoughts of you and me when we were young.'

The girl page is the same as above with colored pencils painted portrait with the words: 'I'm going to stand outside. So if anyone ask, I am outstanding' 😉

I painted first the spread's background, and for AJJ theme I stamped it with my old for ATC's bought stamps. The page is expressed to Elsi, who was my best friend through our high school time. After we graduated, she moved with her elder sister to Canada, and has married, got a girl Kaarina, and lived there until this. We have met several times and connected with letters and after the internet time started with e-mails, but now a days mostly only near Christmas time, and holidays (life is not roaring any more😉). The both of us have gone trough many changes in our life, but we have exchanged also these experiences to each others. So the friendship we made at the school, can last this long, since the beginning of 1960's to these days - from the youth to the old age.

I've written on the page a couple of sayings (sorry about my hand writing):   'Don't be afraid to speak up for yourself. Keep your dreams' -Gabby Douglas. 'The most important thing the girl wear is her confidence.'

Ylinnä näet käsin värikynillä muistikirjan sivulle maalaamani kasvokuvan ja sen alapuolella aukeaman, jossa on toisella sivulla sama tyttö ja toiselle puolelle tein myös käsin värittämällä pohjan ja sille leimailin ATC-kortteja varten aikoinaan hankkimillani leimoilla art journal-sivun. Sivun tein teemaan

 'Kun olimme nuoria.'

Osoitan sen kouluaikaiselle 'bestikselleni' Elsille. Valmistuttuamme hän muutti vanhemman sisarensa kanssa Kanadaan, missä asuu edelleenkin. Molemmat olemme avioituneet, saaneet lapset ja vaihtaneet tietoja kirjein ja internetin aikaan mailein. Tavanneetkin olemme muutaman kerran. Olemme edelleen yhteyksissä, tosin nykyisin vain merkki- ja juhla-aikoina (elämässä ei enää tapahdukaan kummempaa 😉) 

Näin kouluaikana alkaneet ihmissuhteet voivat kestää näinkin pitkän ajan 60-luvun alusta tähän päivään - nuoruudesta vanhuuteen.

Water Lily Maiden

My colored pencil painting on a dry note book page with dry pencils. I bought a book and wonder how good the paper is to paint with pencils, although pages are thin.

On to the opposite page I painted a water lily scenery with partly wet pencils. 

 As wet it is not so good. I tried to catch some impressionable vision. You see the spread page beneath.

'Lumpeenkukka-neito'
Värikynätyöni muistikirjan sivulle. Ostin kirjan ja epäilin sen sopivuutta värittämiseen. Ihmettelen miten hyvä paperi onkin värittää kuivalla kynällä, vaikka se on ohutta. Kostealle ei kovin hyvä. Maalasin neidon kuivalle taustalle kuivin kynin, vastapäiselle sivulle osittain kostealle taustalle maisemaan lumpeita impressionistisuutta tavoitellen. Linkitän työni 'Muotokuva/Kasvot'-teemaan.

Maiden is bringing us colors

 My colored pencil painting 3,5 x 5,5 inch on cardstock.

 Now I used wet paper; a wash of water technic.

I feel that colored pencils as a medium let me use more creativity than acrylics do. With acrylics it's more difficult to change what's earlier planned to paint,  but with colored pencils it's easy. For example the hand on my painting came onto the paper accidently - I saw the figure of it on the background where I was painting, and then sketched it more clear on it, and found the reason to let it be there. Actually the hand became the main image for the message of the painting: *Maiden of the painting is brings us colors*.

'Neito tuo meille värejä'

13x9 cm maalaus värikynillä kostealle korttikartongille. Nyt käytin siis kosteaa taustaa ja maalasin siveltimillä. Työ menee teemaan 'Kasvot'.

Huomasin, että tällä tekniikalla maalatessa sillä on luovuutta lisäävä vaikutus. Kun maalaa akryyleillä on vaikea muuttaa sitä, mitä olen aiemmin aikonut tai olen jo maalannut, mutta tässä työssä maalatessani taustaa käsi ikään kuin ilmestyi taustalle tyhjästä. Luonnostelin sitä selvemmäksi - ja kas' kummaa siitä tulikin työni pääsanoman kertoja: *Neito tuo meille värit*.

Maiden

My colored pencils painting on 8 x 6 oil/acrylic paper, the painting size 6x4 inch.

This technic is new to me. I've bought the pencils long time ago, and now I decided to experiment with them. I read from the box of pencils that they can be used wet or dry on wet or dry paper, so I partly used both ways. The paper wasn't ideal for the pencils.

I wanted to make the Maiden's look a kind of mysterious on the abstract scene, and she came out this way. I'm linking her at the Nicole's/DVArtist challenge theme 'Friday Face Off'.

Maalaukseni värikynillä 21x15 cm öljy/akryyli paperille, maalauskoko15x10 cm.  Tämä tekniikka on minulle uusi. Olen ostanut kynät kauan sitten enkä ole aiemmin niitä käyttänyt. Luin pakkauksesta, että kyniä voi käyttää kuivana tai kosteana kuivalle tai kostealle pohjalle, ja käytin molemmilla tavoilla. Paperi ei ollut ihanteellinen. Halusin neidon näyttävän mystiseltä abstraktisella pohjalla.

My second summer girl

Acrylic painting on 5,5 x 4,5 inch cardstock.

Here it was another hot week in addition to thundering and showers of rain, so I stayed at home a lot, and inspired to paint more faces. 

She is my second summer -22 girl. 

You see beneath also when I haven't painted her dress and accessories yet. I took the photo, because I wasn't sure whether I succeed with the design of her dress, which I planned to paint. It went quite well, and I think she looks nice in the white dress, too. What do you think?

Toinen 'Kesätyttö'.

Kulunut viikko oli edelleen helteinen ja lisäksi ukkosti ja satoi, joten olin paljon sisällä ja inspiroiduin maalaamaan akryyleillä tytön teemaan 'Kasvot'.

Näet hänet valmiina sekä ennen kuin maalasin mekon ja asusteet. En ollut

 varma onnistunko mekon kuvioinnissa ja siksi otin kuvan ennen maalaamista, että jää jotain käteen. No, olen tyytyväinen tulokseen, mutta pidän kyllä

 hänestä valkoisissaankin ja laitoin molemmat kuvat esille.

Summer Girl
